Memorial Pond

CLIENT: Dignity PLC (Basingstoke crematorium)

BRIEF: To come up with a design and construction brief for a memorial pond for crematorium. Following meetings with finance directors and managers of site the design and cost were agreed.

We were very sensitive to the location of the build site so close to services during the day so built a soundproof fence around the site. Movement of delivery and plant was kept to a minimum during the day.

Natural stone was used to build the main wall, and Sandstone used as a surface for access to the public. We added a grey water storage overflow to the pond which when overflows, is stored for irrigation and to top up pond in the summer. Pond was constructed from concrete and fibreglass liner, and state of the art pump/filter system was concealed in a bunker behind the main retaining wall.
